Urid (Gota)
(also known as urad) Gota are whole urid beans without the black skin. They are creamy white and have a distinct, delicious earthy flavor and lots of aroma.
They need to be soaked for a few hours before use. This ensures that it cooks faster.
Urid or urad dal gota is widely used in South Indian cuisine and is used, for example, to make doughs for vada, idlis and dosas.
